Animation/ Multimedia in India
06.30.09 (1:51 pm) [edit]Hi friends,
I hope all of you are aware about the animation and multimedia career n scope, but I am a bit in doubt about the financial status and international alliance ship of the animation industry in India.
The Indian animation market, fairly “static” until a few years ago and activity on this front only began in earnest in the later half of the 90s when animation studios made an appearance in the country and the industry developed a more serious, export oriented outlook. India is now waking up to a host of global opportunities that promise a lot of “action” for the country’s leading design specialists.
According to NASSCOM study, the forces that are shaping the development of the animation industry in India include technical manpower to meet the 2-D and 3-D animation requirements, lower costs of animation production, the expected demand from domestic Indian television channels and the formation of domestic animation studios and training centers.
The animation market in India today is characterized by the presence of multiple players including Crest Communications, Films Division Maya Entertainment, Silvertoon Studio, 2NZ Studio, Cine Magin, Climb Films, UTV Toons, Zee Institute of Creative Arts (ZICA), Digital Studio, Pentamedia Graphics, Prasad Studios, Acropetal, jadooWorks, Color Chips, Heart Animation, Ocean Park, Padmalaya Telefilms, and Toonz Animation, Magic Shop, Moving Pictures, among others. These companies are spreading across cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram.
India has several training institutes that cater to the demand of animation professionals. Chief among them are the National Institute of Design (Ahmedabad), J.J. School of Arts, Zee Institute of Creative Arts (ZICA), Mumbai, Industrial Design Center (IIT Mumbai), IIT Guwahati, C-DAC’s National Multimedia Resource Center (Pune). Private training institutes include ADMEC Multimedia (Delhi) and Pentamedia Graphics (Chennai).
How to make a career in Animation Industry
06.22.09 (1:13 pm) [edit]Dear friends, my previous blog was on “how to search a good Institute for Animation & Multimedia”. Now I want to focus on “how to make a career in Animation Industry”. Opportunities happen seemingly by chance, but only those who have made themselves ready can take advantage of an opportunity wherever and whenever it may strike. Even the smallest of opportunities grow a career like a snow ball rolling down a snowbank. So don’t wait to strike till the iron is hot, but make it hot by the striking.
If you are considering a career in Animation, now it is the time to act. The advent of cable, DTH and video as well as the new technology in computer graphics, has generated a whole host of animation marketed to all ages. That means more jobs, so many more people are finding opportunities in animation. What you should do for achieving a career in Animation, you need to give yourself over entirely to your artwork so as to display the full range of your talent and drawing skills, you should have a portfolio bulging with the samples of your best artwork and landscapes. As an alternative, you might consider making an animation short and sending it to various studios you are interested in working for. Opportunity exists all over Delhi and the India to be sure, but the advantage in studying in major animation cities, you can get a chance for the internship also.
Thanks,
If you like, plz leave comments.
